What Does the Bible Actually Say?

The Bible never says "everything happens for a reason" in those words. What it does say is more nuanced — and more powerful:

Romans 8:28 — "...in all things God works for the good of those who love him."
Genesis 50:20 — "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 — "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."

Scripture does not say every event is caused by God for a reason. It says every event can be redeemed by God for a purpose. That's a critical difference — and the heart of biblical principles.

Why the Quote Comforts (and Why It Sometimes Wounds)

Said well, this quote anchors hope. Said carelessly, it dismisses real grief. The biblical posture holds both:

God is sovereign — nothing escapes His view.
God is good — His character defines what "reason" means.
Suffering is real — Jesus wept (John 11:35).
Redemption is promised — but not always on our timeline.

What is this season exposing in me?
What is it building in me?
Who will I be equipped to serve because of it?
What habits or identities is God inviting me to release?
